Blue Angels visited Peoria

We had a great time at the Peoria Area Air Show last weekend.  Grandpa Rogers came to visit us and we headed to the air show. Despite the rain clouds, the show was still very exciting.  We got the to air show pretty early, so we got good seats.  The planes would drive right in front of us as they were getting ready to take off.  Many planes flew very low to the ground, with the stunts they performed.  There was even a semi truck that had a jet engine on the back of it and went so fast that it looked like it was flying.  The most exciting part of the day was seeing the Blue Angels.  Logan has a poster up in his room that he got from his uncle, so he was so excited to see them.   When they would fly above us Logan would yell "take a picture, take a picture"  or "did you take a picture of that?"  It was pretty fun seeing them perform.  It is hard to believe that they can do all the things they do.   They get pretty close to each other.  There was one time that there were 4 planes and two were upside down.  It reminded me of the part in the movie Top Gun where they give the one plane the bird.  Logan even commented about that!!  When the show was over, the pilots came over to sign autographs. At the time we thought we did pretty good, we got two of the autographs and did not have to wait that long .  Well, when we got to the car, we realized that the two we got were only the announcer and an extra.  DUH, that is why the line was not that long.  Oh well, Logan seemed pretty happy, and he does not know the difference.

EARTHQUAKE

Thursday night/Friday morning, the people of Peoria experienced an earthquake!!!  I woke up about 4:45am to the bed shaking.  I thought it was Louie up on the bed itching, then, when I did not see him I thought I was dreaming.  Well, when I woke up, I watched the news and they said that we had an earthquake that measured 5.2  Even though I thought I was dreaming, it was pretty cool.  When I told Logan, he looked outside to see if there were big cracks in the road!!
How exciting!!!!!

A Teary Milestone

Okay, this is a hard one for me, Kaitlyn has graduated onto a big girl cot at daycare.  I about cried when they told me, and then did get teary eyed when I saw it.  When I asked how she does on the cot they said that it takes a little bit to get her to sleep, but not much more than usual, but when she wakes up, she is off it right away and on the move.  The teachers also told me she will be moving to the toddler room in the next couple of months.  I thanked them for letting me know, so I can prepare myself for that move.

Logan's Tooth

After 4 weeks of having his top tooth loose, it finally fell out this morning.  He woke up and said that his tooth was really loose, and sure enough, it was literally hanging by a thread.  He could turn the tooth completely around using his tongue.  He thought it was really funny, since it really grossed me out.  Rob told him that the top teeth are the ones the tooth fairy pays big bucks for, so Logan is really excited to wake up in the morning. This is Logan's third tooth he has lost!!!

Whats up with the weather

I just finished watching the weather, and we are supposed to get a mix of rain and snow on Friday night/Saturday morning.  What is going on???  It was 70 degrees last weekend and now it is going to snow?  When we moved down here to Peoria, someone, whose name will not be revealed, (mom), said that Illinois does not get much snow and it is warmer here than in Iowa.  Well, we have experienced a lot of snow, and now they are talking about snow in April. I just don't understand.  We want the nice weather we had last weekend.

Family Weekend

Rob finally had the weekend off.  What a great weekend we had as a family.  We really did not do a whole lot nor did we go anywhere except for the weekly grocery shopping. We hung around the house and did somethings that we have put off since we have moved here.  We finally finished the guest bedroom.  We put together a old library table and hung some pictures in the room.  Now our guests have something pretty to look at.  I went out and cleaned up our landscapping.  This is a heck of a job since we have tons of trees in our backyard.
We, I mean Rob, worked on our water softener.  He found a crack in the thingamadingy and if we were to put in a new one, it would cost an arm and a leg. Thank goodness for Rob creative mind and troubleshooting abilities, he saved us lots of money by buying fiberglass and fixed the crack!!!  Now I can go and get my patio furniture!!!
One thing that was really exciting this weekend was we took Logan over to a park and taught him how to ride his bike without training wheels.  Now I know you are probably thinking "hey, he is 6 years old, he should know how to do this already"  But if you know Logan, you know that he is very stubborn, and does not like to try new things.  We have been talking about this day for over a year now, and we finally got him to get on his bike and ride!!  For the first time, he did AWESOME!!!!  Like all new riders, he did great ridding by himself until he realized that dad was not holding on, and then he fell.   His goal is to be able to go on a bike ride with his uncles Travis and Jason when they come home from overseas this summer!
We are looking forward to many more nice weather weekends to come.

BLUE MAN GROUP

Rob and I finally got to use our Christmas present from my parents.  On Tuesday, we went to see the Blue Man Group at the Civic Center.  It was a great night out.  Grandma and grandpa H. babysat Logan and Kaitlyn, so we took full advantage of the evening.  We went out to eat at a Mediterranean deli, and had  falafel (which I do not recommend), and then ate a chicken wrap loaded with garlic.  We would have to say that We are going to stick to American, Chinese, Mexican and Italian food from now on.
We had pretty good seats for the show.  It was loaded with music and comedy.  I would recommend anyone to go and see them.  It is quite amazing how they can do all the things that they do.
